Good Morning!

I had a great night’s sleep last night for once, and actually slept until 9 this morning! Very impressive for me. I feel so awake and refreshed. Ahhh, the power of sleep.

This morning, I wanted to try the new Skyr.is Yogurt I bought at Whole Foods yesterday, so I had it drizzled with maple syrup along with a banana, some almond butter for dipping, and a sprinkling of cinnamon. The texture of this new yogurt is indescribable.. it’s about 20x thicker, denser, and creamer than both Fage and Chobani, and like I mentioned yesterday, it’s a protein powerhouse with a stagerring 22g per 6 oz cup! I absolutely loved this, and once I finish off the fage I bought, this is going to be my new yogurt of choice.

My laziness has progressed to levels that I never thought we even imaginable for me, so in order to break this cycle, I’m going to get myself to the gym in a bit for some light cardio. Gotta get my heart a pumpin’!

Only those who watch Weeds as obsessively as I do will know where the title reference derives from. ;) But it is pretty appropriate for me!

Anyway, today as planned, I finally got my lazy ass to Whole Foods.. I haven’t gone food shopping in god knows how long. Maybe around 2 weeks? That’s definitely a new record for me. I bought a bunch of stuff which is good because a) My fridge was literally bare. I had all of almond milk, cottage cheese, and hummus to choose from, and b) I need to start cooking/eating at home more often and stop going to Candle so often because it’s unfortunately getting way too costly. Gotta budget myself! Of course, like I always manage to do, I forgot to get a few things that I intended to buy. I do this all the time, and I really don’t have a reason to considering I make a grocery list to take with me. I guess my problem is that I always get too lazy to take it out of my bag and actually look at it. Okay, enough with excessive the rambling and onto today’s purchases:

amy’s enchilada bowl, mexican casserole & black bean bowl, indian vegetable korma, and tofu lasagna, sunshine burgers, frozen broccoli, refried chili and lime beans, corn, hot sauce, whipped cottage cheese, fage 0%, a plain skyr.is yogurt to try (protein powerhouse.. 22g for 6oz!), jalapenos, chocolate soy pudding, part skim ricotta, egg whites, and two clif zbars for the inner child in me (blueberry and “spooky smores”).

baby romaine, cherry tomatoes, onions, bananas, an avocado, red bell pepper, summer squash, two mangoes.

Keeping in mind that I just bought a ton of groceries, I could’ve technically cooked dinner at home. But as always, I took the easy way out and had dinner at Candle. Yeah, as you can see, my attempts to save money aren’t going all to well.

Anywho, I ordered the BBQ Seitan Sandwich which is described on the menu as pan-seared barbecue seitan, caramelized onions, and avocado on toasted foccacia served with a grape tomato salad and a side of vegan mayo. Very similar to the Cajun Seitan Sandwich, which is one of my favorites, so I knew I wanted to try this. I really loved it.. my only gripe is that they were a little stingy on the avocado, but it was still terrific nonetheless. Sans mayo, of course.

Mom ordered the Eggplant Napoleon from tonight’s specials menu which was polenta-crusted eggplant topped with an artichoke pate in a pool of truffled tomato sauce, drizzled with basil coulis, and served with sauteed spinach. Aside from the presentation being absolutely gorgeous, it apparently tasted just as fabulous as it looks.

Here’s where my inner bargainer emerged: I was really craving Candle’s Chocolate Mousse Pie, but I decided to save a few bucks and get a Tasti D-Lite instead. Maybe not quite on the same caliber as the Mousse Pie, but it surely did the job to cure both my sweet tooth and chocolate craving. I got a medium cup of Peanut Butter Dream and Maple Fudge with chocolate sprinkles. Heaven in an 8 oz cup.

I hit plenty of traffic on the way home tonight, so I’m pretty beat now. I’m going to do what I do best: be the ill couch potato, and watch my Weeds repeats. With some kettle corn popcorn and a mike’s hard lime that I’ve had in my fridge for forever that I want to get rid of already. I’m off… have a great night!
